What’s up, Wild Child?
Read on if you want a chance to win a bottle of my sunless tanner! Instructions to follow.
Long gone are the days when we would lay out by the pool for hours on end with that SPF8 checking our tan lines every 15 minutes.
(I was so dedicated as a teenager to have the best tan that I bought a kiddie pool for my backyard to lay in during the summer!! EEEK.)
Now that I am older and wiser, Ahem…the ripe age of 22, I’m starting to see some of the early effects of all those days spent in the sun. A little wrinkle here. A little wrinkle there. Skin doesn’t have that bounce that it did when I was sixteen (sigh.)
The point is, I don’t want to fry my skin in the sun anymore, BUT I still want to look like I live in the Bahamas. Enter sunless tanning.
I’m pretty familiar with all of the cult-classic at home sunless tanners like Bondi Sands, Loving Tan, St. Tropez, etc. But most of these are a bit pricey for a product that could leave you looking like a cheeto & a bit hard to find in stores.
Here’s what’s up ladies: I took one for the team and bought the Sally Hansen Airbrush Sun self-tanning foam in shade dark at my local CVS store for only $15 (Yes, both convenient and cheap). I also purchased the same thing in lotion form for also $15 to try out.
Instructions on how to enter the contest to win a new bottle of sunless tanner are at the bottom of the article!
Peep my results below.
Apologies to your eyes. Everything about this picture is terrifying.
Real talk: these are my winter legs. Rarely shaven and rarely seen. Also, my legs are all red and blotchy because I just scrubbed the shit out of them in the shower to prep my skin for the sunless tanner. Do not be alarmed. Because frankly I am.
THANK GOODNESS we can scroll past the scary stuff now.
These beautiful after photos are of two coats of the Airbrush Sun foam sunless tanner. I chose to do two coats because I really wanted to be immediately dark and obviously didn’t have much tan to go off of…
Still a little dewy in this first picture.
This is what my pegs looked liked once they were dry and in some natural sunlight. Not bad for $15 (:
Sally Hansen gave me a new pair of legs..ammirite?
Now that I’ve gotten more of a base tan I just use one coat per week and will mix one pump of foam in with my lotion in the middle of the week for easy maintenance.
