I am completely obsessed with vintage Vogue editorials.
The styling. The clothes. The stories.
Ugh, it’s like being in my favorite old movie, High Society, with Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby, and Louis Armstrong (a literal dream if you haven’t seen it-YOU SHOULD.)
While this look might not mirror the elegance and class of Grace Kelly, it definitely references an aesthetic from the past. A modern take on a long-time feeling – good girl gone bad. (or at least trying to “go bad”)
The story I envisioned for this shoot – which is one of my favorites to date – was a good girl who felt pressured by society to be everything they wanted her to be (polite, quiet, pretty), but didn’t feel like that was really her. The combination of the “pretty and pink aesthetic” contrasted by the leather jacket, gold and silver chain necklace and a thick cat eye are meant to show the outwards conflict of figuring out who she wants to be in the world. Something I’m sure we have all dealt with.
She feels powerful in leather and chains – and in pink – creating a new identity with just one look.
Okay, so that might be a little deep for one dang shoot, but I really want my photos to tell a story rather than try and sell a product, and I hope you do too.
If you have any questions about my outfit please let me know in the comments! I would be more than happy to answer any questions and find some similar looks!
Thanks for reading!
